Two people were arrested after two separate DUI crashes that left one dead and closed down Interstate 5 for several hours in Tacoma. According to KOMO News, the Washington State Patrol reports that a total of six cars were totaled and several others were injured.
The first accident occurred at around 2:15 a.m., when a driver struck into a Ford Explorer that was stopped at the left shoulder of the interstate. The Explorer then hit a third car, and a fourth driver collided into all three cars. The driver of the Ford Explorer was standing outside the car at the time of the accident and sustained severe injuries – he was taken to Madigan Army Hospital, where he later died. The driver responsible for the crash was arrested for driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter.
State patrol confirmed that Friday morning’s second crash was caused by an inattentive driver who hit a cone in a construction area. A second car then crashed into the first car. The first driver was arrested for a DUI investigation. Both crashes remain under investigation.
