King County DUI Campaign Nets Nearly 300 Arrests

The summer months and days surrounding holidays are notorious for high rates of drunk driving arrests and accidents. In an effort to crack down on driving under the influence (DUI) this summer and Labor Day weekend, law enforcement agencies throughout King County participated in the nationwide anti-DUI campaign Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over. The campaign was conducted from August 16 through September 2, Labor Day.

In addition to support from the King County Target Zero Task Force, the Washington State Patrol and local departments throughout the region participated in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign. In total, law enforcement agencies arrested 292 drivers under suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Extra patrols and DUI checkpoints were funded by a grant from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission.

While the Labor Day anti-DUI campaign may be over, law enforcement agencies throughout the entire state of Washington are still focused on arresting, prosecuting, and penalizing individuals they suspect are driving under the influence.
